documentation:networking:heron-networking

Two tp-link AC-2300 Wi-Fi routers are connected in a bridge setup.

  • 192.168.0.1 typically resides in the robotlab or LUCAS, and is plugged in in an ethernet socket, so has internet access. Its main goal is to provide internet access to all devices in the network. It broadcasts two Wi-Fi SSIDs Heron Wifi 2.4G and Heron Wifi 5G. It runs the DHCP server.
  • 192.168.0.2 resides in Heron itself, in the closet between the MIR and the UR. It broadcasts a Wi-Fi SSID Heron Mobile Wifi 5G at 5GHz and no 2.4GHz SSID. It connects the MIR, the UR and robotbrain into the same network, and any devices that connect wirelessly (e.g. your laptop). It is configured to bridge to 192.168.0.1 over 5GHz, so it gets internet access and delegates the DHCP to there.
